BlackBerry launches DTEK50, an Android smartphone that will secure your data – 01net.com

This was expected, BlackBerry has just confirmed. The company introduced the DTEK50, a device running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, like the Priv launched last year. But unlike the latter, there is no physical keyboard. The rate is also much more affordable since the smartphone will be sold for 339 euros as of 8 August. A change of direction already hinted at the announcement of the cessation of production of the BlackBerry Classic, just a few weeks.

But seeing the design of the device, hard not to think of Alcatel Onetouch Idol Idol 4 and 4S. And this is explained simply because the latter are produced by Chinese manufacturer TCL … just behind the DTEK50.

During the conference presentation, BlackBerry has fully assumed similarity explaining that was actually a modified Idol 4. However, developments are rather thin at the datasheet. A baguette include a Snapdragon 617 backed by 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (expandable with microSD card).

As Idol 4, the DTEK50 has a screen 5 2 inch Full HD, a main camera of 13 megapixels and a front 8-megapixel sensor.

To distinguish themselves from others, set BlackBerry on security. Its OS house being relegated to the closet, the manufacturer has been working on its Android overlay, while integrating a hardware security. All data is now encrypted – in accordance with the FIPS 140-2 standard – and it is possible to access authorizations required by different applications. If the function exists natively on Android Marshmallow, the DTEK50 alert the user when a picture is taken without his knowledge, or in a questionable microphone access or location data. BlackBerry also promises to deploy security patches along with Google, without any delay.
