And if the fragmentation of Android was not so marked? – Frandroid

A report by Apteligent highlights the fragmentation of Android not so great when one considers the smartphones that are not equipped with the Play Store.

Each month, Google provides distribution figures versions of Android. And each month, we are surprised at both the low adoption of Marshmallow, or survival of the old versions such as Froyo, Honeycomb or Gingerbread. But these Google data do not take into account, among others, two important criteria: the actual use mobile and smartphones on which the Play Store is not installed, that is to say, many Chinese mobile . Indeed, to make its distribution, Google registers only access to the Play Store on the last seven days.

And that is what “fixes” the report provided by Apteligent, which includes precisely these new criteria. And taking into account, the results are less surprising. For example, the utilization rate of Marshmallow statement by Apteligent, is 19.4 against 10.1%, while Lollipop is installed on half of Android smartphones around, instead of the 35% cited by Google.

for a general picture, Apteligent notes KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow and represent approximately 93% of Android park, which is not very different from the 97% represented by iOS 8 and 9 for the iPhone. What conclude that the fragmentation of Android is ultimately not so important? Nothing is less certain, since this study is based on a range of devices where Apteligent SDK is installed.
