While Apple sphere bubbling since the announcement of the new iPhone 6 and the presentation of the future Watch, it is a flagship product that has subtly disappeared from Apple catalog last night: the iPod Classic. Indeed, the latter is no longer available on the Apple Store site, and it is now the smallest (and colorful) iPod Shuffle which now serves as entry level in the iPod family.
Remember that the iPod was unveiled in 2001 and remains for many diehard” real “iPod. It was renamed iPod Classic in 2007 Obviously, since 2001, the iPod line has evolved and music lovers can now enjoy the new iPod Touch, available in different colors and no longer limited to simple music playback. Indeed, in addition to a fine copy, iPod Touch lets you enjoy a Retina screen and displays characteristics (almost) similar to an iPhone, the phone part and less obviously. Photos, videos, apps, internet, Facebook, Twitter, Mail, Maps … so many features now essential, and accessible via the iPod Touch.
It is therefore difficult for the iPod Classic to compete any longer with this avalanche of new technologies. It nevertheless remains for many as a symbol of success for Apple, with a presentation provided by Steve Jobs in 2001.
