Call of Duty Black Ops 3 preview between transhumanism and zombies – Clubic

Scheduled for November 6 in commerce, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 turned a little to us on the occasion of a Session preview . The program, details of the campaign, but also on the new Zombies mode, one of the specialties of Treyarch.

Each year its Call of , and in 2015, it’s a new installment of the series Black Ops is going to invite on the screens of the owners of PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Nevertheless we know recently that PS3 version and Xbox 360 will not have single player campaign, and will have to settle and Zombies multiplayer mode. Reason given by Activision and Treyarch: the single player campaign of the title is too ambitious to run on the previous generation of consoles. We have actually been able to realize, during a presentation session, the development studio has all the stops to offer a solo content – not really solo Moreover, since it can be played in co-op – high fly

A staging blockbuster


While Black Ops II took place in 2025, Black Ops III takes place in turn in 2065. A jump of 40 years in the not necessarily very bright, when humanity has massively transferred to the call of transhumanism not smoothly. While it has long carried bionic prostheses to replace an amputated limb in an accident, you find yourself in a world where men do not hesitate to deliberately amputated to be “ increased ” . A theme that is reminiscent Deus Ex . We must therefore expect clad characters improvements and implants of all kinds, and assisted by robots-soldiers who seem straight out of the movie Chappie .

Early game, the player survey in Cairo with teammate Jacob Hendricks, to discover what happened to a missing Black Ops team in Singapore. But backtrack is far from easy and very quickly, things escalate. The player will find himself in the middle of a conspiracy in which John Taylor quenching (played by Christopher Meloni), a Special Forces veteran who rose from the other side.


We could play some minutes on the first mission of the campaign, before developers will stop us at the approach of a spoiler they wanted to preserve us. Nevertheless, we understand pretty quickly, joystick in hand, why Treyarch has not ventured to propose this content on PS3 and Xbox 360. The wealth of detail shown, the very living environments and staging increasingly have film struggled to move, at best, on the previous generation of consoles. More than ever, the franchise Call of Duty shows its cinematic ambitions, through a consistent and recognizable cast (Katee Sackhoff, Christopher Meloni, Robert Picardo, Sean Douglas) and the soundtrack orchestrated by Jack Wall .

Note also that for the first time, the deductible includes cut-scenes in the first person. Jason Blundell, director of the campaign at Treyarch explains this choice by the fact that the player can fully customize their character – and even embody a woman if they wish, a first – and this proves appropriate in view a dipping effort. But this is not the only reason, since it evokes an aspect of the scenario makes this necessary perspective … without wanting us to say more at this stage.

An important point also raised by Jason Blundell All campaign missions are unlocked from the start. The player can decide to start playing with the last mission of the campaign, nothing prevents it. “ This is your game, you bought it, so you have to play at all .” In fact, the increase may be difficult without some level, but now, it is possible. Treyarch hopes, however, that the scenario will encourage players to follow the missions in order to understand everything.

The presentation was also an opportunity to see in action the Safe House. Already announced by Treyarch this space, customizable, seeking to reinvent the waiting room between missions. The location of the Safe Houses depends on the location of the missions, but they all have one thing in common: they have four parts, closed, that open when a player enters the game. Since each player can customize his own space with objects collected during missions or her own wardrobe, each “room” is unique with an amazing personality. The Safe House is also where players can customize their weapons, or build through plans. It can trade items and share their expertise, to facilitate the progress of the group.

The Safe House is a kind of hub which removes the group creation menu. An approach that promotes immersion, and that is not unlike what has Destiny , another Activision game developed by Bungie this time. The reconciliation is relatively consistent since the players are instantiated in a space to form their group, equip, and a mission. The other advantage here is to organize its own space, which can be visited by other players: a “trophy” side which will most likely his followers




From living undead


Finally, this meeting was an opportunity to learn more about the new Zombie mode, and in particular its contextualization. We leave here the world of 2065 to find himself in a fictional American city of the 50s, where the architecture is a blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco spray of Bioshock . Playable up to four co-op, Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies III to embody four protagonists whose actions brought down the disgraced face of the most mysterious man, who pulls the strings in the shadows.

Not surprisingly, Treyarch has Shadows of Evil as “ the most successful fashion Zombies in Call of Duty .” Without giving too much detail about the life, the studio reveals a very extensive menu and on several levels, which requested a year and a half of development. Just like in the classic country of the game, here we can count on a casting choice, since the four characters are camped by Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough and Ron Pearlman, while the mysterious Shadow Man is played by Robert Picardo, present in all the Call of Duty . A magician in debt, a dancer in search of glory that does not happen, a corrupt cop and a cheat boxer: a nice bunch who will have to face hordes of zombies with the help of rather improbable authorities retrieved via candy in distributors. Hard not to admit that we most want to play the crazy card and countryside Black Ops 3 , which promises yet ambitious.

Buyers Collector’s Edition guests may have a second map , named The Giant , which is simply a remake of Der Riese map already proposed in Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Black Ops . The latter is promising even if it only revisit a known card. The graphics and staging are certainly something to do, but it is regrettable that only the most fortunate players have access.


A month before the game’s release, Black Ops III confirms the ambitions which we expected. The franchise remains a big machine whose workings are effective, and fans of the previous games should appreciate the work of Treyarch studio veteran of the saga. This presentation, which focused on the dramatic side of the title, was also an opportunity for the developer to justify the absence covertly campaign on Xbox 360 and PS3. Owners of these machines will only settle for the multi, but will still be able to count on a new friendly Zombies mode. Whether this new Call of Duty is a document justifying investing in a new console, it will take its final version to tell.
