A big space rock, probably a comet Still, should barely touch the Earth this Saturday afternoon on Halloween. Nice coincidence, according to NASA, this object would look like … a skull.
With a little imagination, photo released by the US agency is striking: two dark cavities for eyes, a round hole in the nose, carved on a white skull-shaped form.
“It looks like she has put on a skull costume for his passage (near the Earth) for Halloween,” laughs Kelly Fast, NASA scientist quoted in the press release issued for the opportunity.
No risk of collision
The astronomers first thought it was an asteroid that they baptized Asteroid 2015 TB145. But after further observations through an infrared telescope, they determined that it was ultimately a dead comet has lost its “volatile materials after many passages around the sun.”
