Microsoft released via Windows Update the first major update to Windows 10, called Threshold 2 (build 10586). On the program, the publisher promises among other improvements in the Edge browser and a faster start. Windows users receive 10 since last week this new version but it is not without problems. Forbes magazine has identified the site in several … and we too!
New user ? No update!
For users who just completed an upgrade from Windows 7 or 8, it will take 31 days before accessing Threshold 2. This is due the rollback to the previous system offers, valid for 1 month if you are not satisfied with Windows 10. More disturbing, some users were stranded for 44% of the installation as they had a map SD inserted into their computer. It is normally sufficient to remove the card for the installation, rather long, go all the way.
The new version does not like some programs
Other users was surprised to see some of their programs disappear. We did the test with CPU-Z test the software that actually disappeared after the update. Explanation in Notification Center: This program is no longer compatible with the new version of Windows! You can always reinstall them after the fact but it is unfortunate that Windows does not warn before programs will be deleted
Windows also change the default program to open certain files. For example, we found that the PDF files opened by Acrobat Reader are now opened by Edge. However, the problem does not occur if you performed a manual assignment, for example to use the player for Sumatra PDF files. This is not the first time that Microsoft forces the hand of its users, as we have mentioned in this article.
Check the privacy settings
Finally, users complained on forums that privacy settings were reactivated after the update. We actually found this on some parameters, such as access to email applications or certain identifiers
It will therefore check your privacy settings after performing the update.
