Google is testing the advertising tracking on TV ads – Clubic

The American firm will test target advertising medium for television. Google realizes its experimentation on its own fiber network, based in Kansas City, United States.

Google has developed a technique to know the habits of users when an advertisement is broadcast on TV . The idea is similar to the accounting for clicks on the web but here is an application to the TV. Google is able to know how many people are watching an advertisement in front of their screen.

To do this, the group organizes tests in Kansas City in the United States. Google has chosen this city of 450,000 inhabitants about Google Fiber for his initiative. These residents can enjoy a connection to 1 Gb / s using the Group’s network. The latter hold of infrastructure and can freely transit its own content.

For Google, the interest is to offer more targeted ads, according to the person who looks at them. It is therefore possible to see, over time, of such content to be broadcast in real time according to the preferences of the viewer, location or even its history.

According to Adweek This program is still currently in the experimental stage and the group specifies that it can be unsubscribe. A user can request that its viewing history is not taken into account by Google.
