“One-body Detection”: a new way to lock Android … – ZDNet France

Google continues to work around the security of Android, including to better penetrate the corporate market. This time it is the automatic lock function Lollipop (Android 5) that evolves with On-tested body Detection today.

The principle is simple through the use of the accelerometer, the terminal is capable of detecting a presence or not nearby. Thus, no gestures or movements automatically locks the smartphone. In other words, if the owner moves away from his camera or is placed and remains motionless, it will automatically lock. Once it is taken over, it will release.

Obviously, the approach has its limitations, warns Google. The device is not able to know who holds in his hand the terminal. If it is unlocked and is loaned to another person, it will remain unlocked … But technology can be useful especially on smartphones without biometric reader.
