HISTORY
Is Google about to become “e-shopping” chasing on Amazon and eBay lands? According to the Wall Street Journal archidominateur the leader of online research will integrate in the coming weeks a “buy” button (buy) on sponsored search results that make it live. Initially limited to its mobile application “Google search”, this new feature will redirect its users to a page where they can customize their order and complete their purchase. So far, customers who purchase products via “Google Shopping” were redirected to the retailer’s site. If confirmed, this development in line with the growing trend of consumers to use their smartphones to find local shops would make Google a real dealer online rather than a mere purveyor of information monetized links. The firm, however, will continue to be paid on the current model via clicks on merchant sites.
