On the occasion of its WinHEC conference being held this week in China, Microsoft detailed the hardware requirements for Windows 10, according to the types of terminals (or the full presentation made).

As for smartphones and tablets equipped with up to 8-inch screen, a minimum of 512 MB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage will be required – with integrated SD card if the unit does not exceed the 4GB to manage updates. Microsoft states, however, that these devices require a higher level of RAM in case of high-resolution screen (a screen 2560×2084 pixels QSZGA involve for example 4GB of RAM).

This information reveals the will of Microsoft to target all types of terminals, from the smallest to the largest, high-end products to low cost products.

While the launch of Windows 10 is announced for this summer, the publisher had already stated that the new OS would be free during year for Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 (out of business). A commitment that implies for him to make Windows 10 adaptable to these terminals with different versions. To take over smaller smartphone configurations, the group said earlier this week on a floor device to compress the Windows file system 10. Objective: Win 1.5 GB of storage on the device, 32bit and 2.6 GB for 64bit machines.

As for PC or hybrid terminals, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage will be expected to benefit from Windows 10 on a 32bit architecture, and 2GB of Ram and 20GB storage 64bit. In this configuration, the screen must be at least 7 inches, with a resolution of 800×600 pixels.
