Suspected Libyan finance Sarkozy: his former interior minister in custody


Paris – Former Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, Claude Gueant, was placed into custody Friday view in a survey of Libyan finance charges of the presidential campaign of 2007, told AFP several sources.

The accusations of a Libyan campaign financing 2007 Nicolas Sarkozy (President from 2007 to 2012) had emerged between the two rounds of the presidential campaign of 2012. The journalism website Mediapart investigation had then published a paper suggesting an agreement of Libya Muammar Gaddafi to finance the campaign of Mr. Sarkozy. This ensures that it is a fake.

A judicial inquiry was opened in April 2013, including active and passive corruption and influence over these charges traffic.

This is the third time Mr. Gueant, formerly the boss of all the fonts in France, was placed in custody in connection with various cases.

‘s was the first time in late 2013 in a premium package paid in cash while leading the cabinet of Mr. Sarkozy when the latter was interior minister.

Mr. Gueant had also been taken into custody in May 2014 in the case of a controversial arbitration between businessman Tapie Bernard Tapie and the bank Credit Lyonnais.
