Galaxy S8 : first photo unveiled its screen is gigantic – Le Journal du Geek

so Here is the first image of what the very well informed Evan Blass (@evleaks) claims to be the Galaxy S8. The reporter and leaker of american also took the opportunity to unveil the technical specifications of the two devices, loads of screens of 5.8 and 6.2 inches !

galaxy s8 leak

It probably won’t be announced until next march, but we already know what it will look like the Galaxy S8. The image posted by Evan Blass shows a device whose design reminds a lot of the Galaxy S7 edge, with a glass-bottom rounded, strips of metal and a curved screen on both sides.

smartphones with 5.8 and 6.2-inch in a compact design

the information that is most interesting is not so much this image – actually quite reassuring about the next smartphone from Samsung – the information that accompanied it. Evan Blass said, in effect, that Samsung will market two models, equipped for the smaller screen of 5.8 inches and the largest a screen of 6.2 inches, all two Super Amoled display.

The façade is assumed of the Galaxy S8

as surprising as it may seem, this does not mean that the Galaxy S8 will be a smartphone giant. The screens are expected to cover 83 % of the façade and have a ratio of 18:5:9. Not only the screen should overlap the slices – with a screen “edge” curved on both sides – but it should also take almost all the space on the top and bottom of the phone. Samsung would not, therefore, lengthened his phones, he would have “just” made it so that the screen takes up the major part of the facade. This is not without ask yourself many questions about the ergonomics of the whole.

More physical Home button and a fingerprint sensor fingerprint strangely positioned

This also means that the physical Home button will disappear and the navigation buttons (back, multitasking) are now integrated in the screen. The fingerprint sensor has been placed… to the right of the photo sensor back. A strange choice on the part of Samsung that handicap probably small hands. The last point of design, this photo confirms that the Jack port is always present on the bottom of the phone.

On the technical data sheet, Evan Blass confirms that the Galaxy S8 will embark on the ship a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 for the american versions and Exynos (non-specified) for the rest of the world. A chip supported by 4gb of RAM and, good news, 64 Gb of basic internal memory, expandable through a port micro-SD card. The photo sensor back would be a sensor of 12 MP and the sensor front-end would display 8 MP (as opposed to 5 MP on the Galaxy S7).

batteries almost unchanged

We learn also that the Galaxy S8 would have a battery of 3000 and 3500 mAh for versions 5.8 and 6.2 inch. This is not without worry. Of course, the new chips will consume less (thanks to a burn-10nm), but the very large screens will likely be very energy-efficient.

Finally, the Galaxy S8 would be installed on Android 7.0 Nougat, could be turned into a mini-PC thanks to a special dock (we talked about it already a few days ago) and would be entitled to a IA special developed by Samsung named Bixby that could trigger it using a special button located on the edge of the phone.

devices sold 100 euros more expensive than the Galaxy S7

Last point, the Galaxy S8 would be well announced on the occasion of a press conference to be held at the end of the month of march. The phones would then be marketed to later on the 21st of April at a price… 100 euros more expensive than the Galaxy S7 at its output last year. The model of 5.8 inches would be so sold out 799 euros and 6.2 inch 899 euros. Ouch.
