Windows 10 : new options for privacy – Clubic

When Microsoft launched Windows 10, the firm of Redmond was soon under the fire of criticism due to the default settings enabled in the OS and on the respect of private life. Today, the publisher launched a web wizard to manage the data linked to the respect of your privacy and the announcement of new options during the installation of Windows 10.

Windows 10 is allowed, to the general surprise, a few liberties as to the privacy of its users : the reason ? Settings enabled by default that the choice was clearly not in favour of the privacy of users. One remembers in particular the default setting of Windows Update that turned every PC into station of peering sending Windows updates to other machines. If Microsoft has relatively little press release on the topic when it made headlines, the firm has corrected the shot by turning off some settings as objectionable in the one of the first updates major OS.

Since then, Microsoft had not yet returned on the privacy settings from the Windows default 10. The publisher announced for the setup of the next update of Windows 10, the Creators Update, a new settings panel. More simple, but also more explicit, it aims to present to the user a screen where he must make some clear choices, without which the installation does not continue. Users of existing versions of Windows 10 will see them offer a notification inviting them to choose their privacy settings.

waiting for the next update, Microsoft is also launching a Web module to view its history and possibly act in the cleaner. Called ” Your privacy “, the module allows you to view the history of web browsing, search history, activities, location, as well as the notebook of Cortana and health activities, all of which are associated with your Microsoft account. You can for each history or activity, take knowledge of it, and purge it. However, unlike a search history Facebook it is not possible to delete a single entry among others.
