Thomas Pesquet has his first successful exit in the space, on Friday, January 13. The French astronaut, on a mission aboard the international space Station since the 19 November, has successfully performed work on modernization of the electrical system of the orbital outpost. He also managed to take high-definition images of his fellow american Shane Kimbrough, thanks to a camera attached to the level of his chest.
The footage filmed by the French have been released on YouTube by the european space Agency (ESA) on 21 January. Thomas Pesquet was also another camera fixed on his helmet, and allowed the ground crew of the Nasa follow the work.
The two astronauts were able to, among other things, to recover a failing camera, or install a protective cover over a docking port that is unused. They spent five hours and 58 minutes outside of the international space Station.
