VIDEO GAMES – Announced for 3 march next year, the Nintendo Switch, the next console of the japanese manufacturer, is in particular able to evolve into a portable console. In the wake of the presentation conference, which took place on Thursday evening, LCI was able to test it. Here are our first impressions joystick in the hands.

“A whole new kind of home console”. Here is the promise held Thursday evening in Tokyo by Nintendo and its president, Tatsumi Kimishima, during the conference of presentation of their next console of Nintendo video games Switch. Now it has a release date : 3 march.
After the semi-flop of the WiiU and its gamepad, the japanese manufacturer wants to revolutionize the way people play in providing a product three-in-one. A few hours after the presentation, the LCI has had the opportunity to go and see more closely the next machine of the Nippon, in search of a repositioning on the market of the video game.
Switch (“change”, in English) is a term that is well-suited to this new console that is more compact than the WiiU, or that the competing fine-grained (Xbox One’s and PlayStation 4 Slim). The Switch consists of a docking station and a tablet to integrate. It can change your mode from TV classic (I play with my controller on the TV) to Tabletop (I play with the controller on the screen of the tablet) or Handled (console mode laptop). It is even possible to start a game in a way and pursue it in another. We made the test on The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild and all this happens in the continuity.
The multi-touch screen of 6.2 inches is wide enough, but with a resolution rather minimalist (1280 x 720 px). Each game will be launched from a cartridge. The Switch, therefore, has reduced its storage space (32 Gb), much of which is occupied by the system. To complete and store your game data, a space map microSDX is expected. The console also features two built-in speakers and a jack.
The console will be available in full black or with a rocker switch red Neon and a controller Neon blue. But no game !
The Joy-Con stand out from the pad to be hung on the grip in order to become a controller. They can be used separately in each hand or use your controller to two different players. Repositioned laterally on the pad, they turn the Switch in the portable console is wide enough. Compared to the usual interplay, or even the Wiimotes, the Joy-Con seems tiny in his hand. We find the two sticks divided between the two controllers, the cross and the buttons X, Y, A, B as well as the triggers above. A button for NFC (on the right) will detect the Amiibo or Skylanders figures. On the Joy-Con left is a button that will then be used to make screenshots or videos of games in progress. The Joy-Con boards motion sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer) and an infrared camera motion detector. Thus, we can feel the vibrations in the key moments of a party.
It is announced at least three hours for a game like The Legend of Zelda. But it may take up to 6 hours, depending on use and the type of game. It is a little low, especially to play in the aircraft such as Nintendo stated to promote its console. But, as a tablet, the Switch may be recharged through a USB-cable-C -provided – if you are in the ride.
For the moment, no official price has not yet been released by Nintendo for France, as it is advertised around us $ 299 (281 euros) in Japan and the United States. The pre-orders on the French sites such as Micromania begins, however, to 349 €, more expensive than a console like the Xbox One S with Blu-ray player, 4K included and the game FIFA 17 included (1 To – around 316 €) or a PS4 Slim 500 Gb with two controllers or Battlefield 1 (309,99 € 331,88 €) sold on Amazon. The e-commerce site offers the Nintendo Switch to 329,99 €, but without the slightest play.
At launch, it already has the insurance to see Zelda landed. But you will still have to pay a few euros to launch its console, since it will be thus delivered without any game. Available also on 3 march, 1-2 Switch brings together several mini-games to perform in solo or several and take advantage of the various possibilities of the Switch (milking a cow, from the ball, take shots, play the samurai…).
other Nintendo games are expected as the fighting arcade ARMS (spring 2017), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (28 April), Splatoon 2 (summer 2017) or the inevitable hero house in a unique Super Mario Odyssey quite promising (end of 2017). Small blow of heart for Snipperclips, a puzzle ultra-creative that you can play alone but which turns out to be much more fun with several (in march on the Nintendo eShop).
While the WiiU had suffered from a lack of support from third party publishers (with a few rare exceptions, in its infancy), they are both likely to say that they will be of the adventure. Ubisoft has already announced the arrival of Rayman Legends (released in 2013 on PS3 !), in Just Dance 2017 and the recent Steep. in Skyrim (Bethesda), FIFA 17 (EA) or Skylanders Imaginators (Activision, playable without the portal !) will also be ported to the new console.

Has just two games to buy in addition, because the Switch does not already have one. The other will be seeded over a period of months. The price position (more than 300 €, which is quite rare for Nintendo) seems a bit high for a product that is not technologically superior to the competition. But the grip and the discovery in more depth of the console at the time of its release we will no doubt see more clearly.
