Mozilla hacked on Bugzilla platform – Clubic

The Mozilla Foundation says that some of its servers were hacked by hackers wishing to undermine Firefox users.

Mozilla announced that hackers managed to steal sensitive personal information enabling them to identify with administrative rights within the site Bugzilla. The persons in question have potentially stolen data allowing them to orchestrate an attack targeting Firefox users.

Bugzilla platform helps coordinate the work of various contributors and identify the major problems to be solved subsequent iterations of Firefox. On its official website, the foundation explains: “ Mozilla has conducted an investigation into the unauthorized access and we have taken the necessary actions to remedy the immediate threat


. > Mozilla adds that hackers had access to 185 bugs affect Firefox descriptions of which 53 were particularly important vulnerabilities. During this unauthorized access, a dozen flaws had not been corrected.

However hacked Mozilla states that the account was closed and the remaining flaws were corrected in the published version of Firefox 27 August. The consequences of piracy more so should a problem at this time.

The account holders on Bugzilla were asked to change their passwords and to enable an authentication device by two factors. Furthermore, the number of members with privileged access to this platform was reduced to mitigate future attacks.
